the three of us were watching extreme games sa tv: bmx and motor bikers, skateboarders, doing their stunts. several were shown failing to complete their stunts and were falling and getting hurt.

may dalawang tagalog na libro akong dinala dito sa canada. para kako meron pa rin syang mabasang tagalog. at nang hinde makalimutan ang pagtatagalog. dahil sisipain ko talaga tong batang to pag nagpakaslang slang sa pagtatagalog. i dont mind mag slang sya mag ingles. at kung mag french pa sya. pero ayaw kong mag slang sya mag tagalog. dapat tagalog kung tagalog! anyway....

binabasa nya yung tagalog books nya. i mean he is telling the story of the books based on the pictures and of what he remembers about the story based on our previous read aloud sessions.

aquim learned to count at an early age. but it was just from 1 to 10. kahit ilang beses kong turuan, nalilito sya pag lampas ng 12. after so manyyy months of struggling to count was past 10, suddenly, he can now count up to 100! grabe. cant believe it.

he just kept going from thirteen to 20s, 30s. until he reached the 100!

he had his first visit with his dentist today here in canada. his real first time was in the philippines.

sad news.

4 front teeth need fillings, one of which is being doubted to be salvaged.

2 upper molars, one on each side need fillings (silver).

4 lower molars, two on each side need fillings (silver), this i wasn't aware of, but the x-ray revealed it.

options: one, have it done in 5 or 6 separate sessions, with local anaesthesia. OR. have it done in 1 session, with general anaesthesia (inhaled). afraid si mommy.

cost: around CAD 2.5K. afraid si daddy. hehehe.

first time ni aquim na makapag trick or treat na totoong trick or treat. hehe sa pinas meron kaso di pa kasing natural ng mga canadians. usually sa office or sa mall lang. dito talagang bawat house, pwede kang mag trick or treat.

kids and adults alike nakacostume. and ang mga houses, me decor talaga. kakabilib! para kang nasa house of horror. kahit yung mga nagbibigay nakacostume din.

merong house na me malaking spider sa lawn. meron me coffin at bigla na lang bubukas dahil me lamang tao pala. galing.

anyways, we had fun kahit na sobrang lamig. i wasnt able to take pictures kasi namamanhid ang aking mga kamay sa lamig. taga habol lang ako ni aquim at taga dala ng loots niya. i had the bigger bag, aquim had the smaller bag.

lagi pa kaming huli sa aming mga kasama. kasi naman si aquim, pag me nakikitang magandang decor sa house, tumitigil. nag uusyoso. tinitignan ang lumilipad na bats, tinitignan ang malaking spider. tinitignan ang mga jack o lantern. tinitignan ang mga witches. tinitignan ang mga ghosts. tinitignan ang mga vampires at zombies. hinahawakan ang mga skeleton. heheh... i guess for him that's where the fun is. he actually got tired saying trick or treat. nung napagod, umayaw na. sabi sa akin. can we go home now? i want to eat all these candies! hehehe

nahulog kaya sa stairs. about 3 or 4 steps. pano kaka atras kasi binunuksan ng owner yung door. eh ang style ng houses dito pag me stairs, di naman naka sagad sa wall, me space between the wall and stairs. ayun pag atras, nahulog, humampas ang ulo sa wall, chaka nalaglag. buti na lang hindi solid ang walls dito. actually, wood siya, tapos finished lang ng cement. at ang kinahulugan nya, malambot na soil with small soft wood. hayy.. was just praying and hoping na okay lang siya.

the other day, we were watching tv and somebody said oh shit. he asked me why did the lead say that, i think i have explained it in a way because something happened (cant exactly remember what happened in the movie) but told him that it is a bad word.

i just dont know why he said that today. when, in fact, if he heard us telling ay tanga, he'd reprimand us and say:

wag kang magsasabi ng tanga ha, bad yun.

or if there is a new word that he learns or a word that he wants to describe something or to say to someone, he'd ask me first, if it's bad or good..

hopefully he will not say oh shit again.

english nga eh

when aquim is out and playing with other english speaking kids, he really talks in english without being prompted to. as if he knows that he should speak in english because he can't be understoold by them.

at home, he speaks in straigt english sometimes. especially after watching tv shows. oftentimes, taglish.

one day, as he was coming out of our room, he saw his cousin and he wanted to go and get inside their room to play with her and borrow her toys.

aquim: pwedeng pumasok?

mommy: english-in mo kasi.

mommy: he wanted to give you your toy but you told him to stay upstairs, that's why he threw it.

and yes, i've witnessed all of that. everytime they were shooing him away, i told aquim to just play with me. i tried not to let him join their games, they wouldn't let him, anyway. but aquim still wanted to play with them. i know aquim really just wanted to play, to have playmates. maybe i hover too much. maybe i'm too sensitive. i just wanted to protect aquim. no, i wouldn't let them affect aquim's confidence and self esteem.

since aquim's birthday was a weekday, we celebrated it simply, just the 3 of us. come weekend, we had another celebration with our relatives and his cousins here.

we went to ate gaby and kuya miles' house, had lunch and then go bowling!

this is aquim's first time to ever get inside a bowling alley. to get hold of a bowling ball (duck pin) and actually throw a bowling ball. heheh excited pati ang mommy!

we took turns on guiding aquim on how to throw the ball and also on helping him in carrying it. mahirap na, baka mabagsakan pa ang mga paa!

back in the philippines, aquim watches nick and disney channel but he's more into cartoon network which has tom and jerry, ben10 and other not-so-toddler-friendly-too-violent shows.

here, so far, he loves every show on this channel, that is, treehouse tv. and i'm all thankful because the shows are good and educational and toddler appropriate. some times he watches ben10 on ytv. but these days, he's all glued on these:

there are other familiar shows like diego, dora, wonder pets, backyardigans, barney and frieds, thomas train, blues clues, postman pat, bob the builder, elmo's world, global grover, ni hao kai-lan and yo gabba gabba. but i guess since he was able to watch these back in the philippines, he is more fascinated with the new shows.

i've been baking brownies almost every other day for a week now. basta. and aquim is always with me all those times. and everytime, i am always reading the instructions on the brownie mix , box aloud with him to let him in on the process. he either repeats it after me repeatedly or say it differently with his own ad lib.

moi: pour half cup of vegetable oil.

aquim: oil daw. ano pang sabi?

moi: then add water.

aquim: o dahan dahan. ganyan din ako pagme dalang water eh, baka kasi matapon.

aquim: mommy lagyan mo na daw ng eggs.

moi: teka lang kumukuha pa nga lang ng eggs eh.

... after kong mailagay ang eggs, naghugas ako ng kamay...

aquim: pagkatapos ilagay ang egg, mag wash ng hands.

little story. after that 3 of us have finished our food. aquim asked: mommy, bakit wala akong party? sa cainta may party naman ako...

a day after his party, the two of us are just browsing the web. and then out of nowhere, aquim brought it up again: mommy bakit wala akong bisitang kids? sad ako kasi wala akong bisitang kids.

of course i explained, kailangan magtipid. kasi pag me bisitang kids, kailangan maraming handang food. konti lang money natin. and isa pa, wala naman tayong chairs sa house. san uupo ang bisita mong kids?

aquim: sa chair ko na lang.

funny story. we tagged him along at the toy store to pick our gift to him. of course, it's a toy store so it would be really hard for a kid to pick a single toy. we went to the robots, the bakugans, even checked out another beyblade. showed him the megablocks and the lego too. then we slimmed it down between the bakugans and the lego (ben10).

mom and dad: ano mas gusto mo, bakugan or ben10.

aquim: ahm, bakugan.

mom and dad: eto na talaga?

aquim: ah ben10.

mom and dad: eh ano ba talaga, maggo grocery pa. dalian mo.

aquim: (nakita yung sword) wow! ito na lang!

mom and dad: ano yan na lang? sword, or ben10 or bakugan?

aquim: sword.

mom and dad: o sige. sword na. pero ano pa isang gusto mo bakugan or ben10?

aquim: sword na lang nga.

what's funny? kasi yung ibang toys na pinipili namin for him, $15, yung sword $2 lang! hehehe in then end, we bought the sword and the ben10.

everybody happy. errr... aquim was not so happy nga pala, because wala daw siyang bisitang kids.

not affected?

to say that aquim would not be affected or will ONLY be slightly affected by us living here in canada because he is still young ... is so NOT true.

he's just barely 3 years old but he knows. he knows that this is not our house. he is sad that he doesn't have his toys (when before, he has a LOT). he knows that here, he is not the apple of their eyes.

the first week, he didn't really like to chat to his lolos and lolas back there in cainta. i presume because he misses them. he didn't want to see his old pillows, his old toys, his old dresser. he asked why is zoe using them. why is zoe sleeping in his bed. he doesn't want to see that.

just this morning, it was just the two of inside the room. when he woke up, after our "good mornings".

i asked him: "is this our bed?".

he replied, "no, this is aven's.".

i told him, "don't worry, soon we'll have our bed again. we bought one yesterday, remember? we tried bed after bed after bed yesterday. our bed is going to be delivered on our new house. we'll have our own house again. are you happy?"

he said yes and smiled a little and then he turned his back on me.

i continued talking to him but then i noticed that he is crying. i asked him why is he crying. he just kept on covering his eyes while shaking his head. i kept asking him why but he still didn't asnwer. it came to a point that he can no longer hold back his tears and he wept.

when he stopped crying, i asked him why he cried? he told me "nala-love ko na kasi sina lolo, lola, lola eng, lolo boy...etc.".

so apparently, he misses them.

maybe he realizes that we are really staying here in canada and we won't be coming back to cainta soon because we got our house, we bought a bed.

oh well.

on the wall of where we are staying, there is an australian map. and he's asking me where is the philippines on that map. i told him the philippines is somewhere on the upper portion of that map (nasa wall na kmi) and that canada is almost on the ceiling.

i told him i will teach him the maps and flags. last night, we got time, i showed him the map of the philippines, and where it was in the globe. showed him the map of australia and canada as well.

i also showed him the philippine flag, canadian flags, and flag of usa. last night, he can already find the philippine when i ask him to find in the global map.

he can also point to me the philippine flag in a bunch of 10 different flags. and the canadian flag in a bunch of another 10 different flags. he's having a hard time with the us flag.

i'll ask him again tonight if he can still remembers it.

i love gymboree

my mommy wanted to see how am i going to act inside a school/play school. so they signed up for a membership and enrolled me for a month at gymboree. it comes with 5-hour playtime. so even if my one month school is already done, i still frequent the gymboree just to play. and oh how i love it!
